Movies & TV, What are you watching?

For TV these days for me, I kinda randomly watch the marathons they have on days I don't work. Otherwise it's history, discovery, and sci-fi, depending on the time of year. Also Colbert and Stewart's respective shows.

Can't wait for July, and the fact that they're stacking Eureka with Warehouse 13!

Stewart is awesome. Colbert is funny, but I'd rather it be more reality-based.

Also, you don't need profanity etc to make a great show. However, don't say a show is bad just because it has profanity etc.

Oh wait, wrong show.

I just rewatched episode 1 of Lexx: The Dark Zone, aka Tales from a Parallel Universe, aka Lexx: The Movies, aka Lexx: The Mini Series, aka Lexx: the One With the Blonde. This is a fairly cheesy sci-fi mini-series (4 episodes in all) from the late '90s, but for some reason I just loved it. For years I wasn't able to find it except an occasional spotting of bad VHS rips on the internet, but apparently Netflix has a DVD set now. Quality isn't great, but it's better than VHS.

Sample dialog:

Zev: What kind of robot are you?
790: I'm a robot who wants to live in your underpants.

I mean, come ON! That's high art right there!

If you're interested in checking it out, make sure you don't get the TV series by the same name ("Lexx"), or at least not initially. I have nothing against the TV series, but my heart is with the original.

I've tried to watch Family guy a number of times over the years. Sometimes after watching the Simpsons & American Dad on hulu, I'll switch over and give Family guy another shot. I always end up turning it off from either boredom or annoyance. None of the characters are likeable in the least, and doing something annoying for 4 minutes straight doesn't make it funny. At all.

I admit I thought the show was funny back when it first started, before it was canceled the first time or so. But mostly the show is just plain stupid. Meanwhile, American Dad is the funniest thing on tv next to 30 Rock.

30 Rock remains the best thing on TV, outside of Inside the NBA ofc.

Lexx was on Sci-fi briefly once, right? Back when Farscape or whatnot was just starting? Gah, feels like ages. I should try watching both shows again.

I haven't given American Dad a good try, but it's next on my list. I keep hearing that it's great.
