I was watching a movie last week and finally realized after about 30 minutes that there was no dialogue. It is a really good movie and I suggest you give it a try. It is available on Netflix streaming. I told my wife about it and started to replay it just for her to see that there was no dialogue. She watched the entire film and it is now one of her favorites. It's a slow series, much like the book, but it'll pick up the pace soon enough.

And yeah, Viserys is an evil , but at the same time delusional, impatient and weaker than reptilian roadkill.

I tried an episode or two of Game of Thrones because everyone was pooping themselves about it. Couldn't get into it, either.

It is interesting enough to keep me watching. Lotta scheming. Most of the characters are jerkwads. But I do like the dwarf and white-haired gal, Jon and Arya aren't bad either but don't seem to get much screen time.

Yeah, Dany (white-haired gal) is one of my two favorites from the books. I love her transformation from innocent victim to strong-badass-leader.

There were some things about the movie translation that I really disliked, and the main one involved Dany. (Spoilered for crazy character overanalysis.)

The first time Khal Drogo took her to bed, she was scared and crying, and he responded by ... well, taking a really long time and making her enjoy it. By the time he was done she was as into it as he was. To me, that set the tone for their entire relationship, which is probably an incredibly feminine thing for me to say, but it's true. It made him more than just some mindless barbarian horse lord and someone capable of showing compassion. And to me, his helping her along that first time served to eliminate a lot of her fear, and helped start her on that road to the tough queen she eventually became.

In the movie he was just like "Oh, you're scared and crying. No. Don't cry. Also, bend over." Bam, that was it. It was just a little scene, but a lot was lost there to my mind.

God, I love Daeneryes and the Targaryens in general, but bloody hell, I wanted to smack her with a clue bat for the better part of Dance With Dragons.

I liked the series, and I'll watch season 2. Curiosity got the better of me, so I read about the series on Wikipedia. By the sound of it, there's no closure or resolution to the stuff going on in Season 1. Instead, the series turns into a bunch of. . . side quests?
