These are more like Folk Songs than modern country. Although there is a bit of the older country style in them. By older I mean, Jim Reeves, Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline, and Connie Francis. They generally had songs that told a story, and Stompin' Tom follows that tradition.

Country is music where everyone sings with a twang and about who done what to who, and living in bars, and cheatin' women. It makes poor use of the pedal steel guitar. Folk music is different although sometimes they are borderline.
