And the Touch has other uses...
Gaming - I bought the Touch instead of a DS or PSP
I also use the Calendar, Notes and iPod functions a lot.
So the addition of free App that adds functionality as an ebook reader is a no-brainer!

In Canada we have something called "books", I don't know if this technology is available where you live though.

Touch has other uses, if you plan on using it for them...
I have an 120 gb classic already, and rarely travel with it.
The Kindle is designed to read like paper, I doubt the touch can emulate that well enough. taking 2-3 books (or more) sucks up luggage space, and books in general take floor space for storage, whereas an e-reader has a low footprint in that regard.

I am excited about getting the new Kindle, but when PC Magazine went digital, I canceled my subscription. I won't mind a Kindle because of it size, but when something is available only to be read on a computer, then no thanks, I'll pass.

Picked up Ghosts of Ascalon on one of my semi-regular trips to Newcastle today, though I can't honestly see myself getting around to reading it until I've finished Crooked Little Vein and Dresden book number 3.
Speaking of Crooked Little Vein, it amazes me that Warren Ellis hasn't been declared clinically insane by now after getting more than halfway through said book.
This is by no means saying that Crooked Little Vein is a bad book. It's just very, very, very twisted.

Is Ghosts of Ascalon well-made with good binding and covers? And is it typical small paperback size or larger? I'm getting more and more curious about buying a copy.
