Just watched episode 1. Can I drop an eff bomb in this thread or what? I don't remember last season making me as jumpy as this one episode did. Heck, I remember watching most of them in bed, right before sleep, lights off. Not this season!
You know what drives me up the wall (in a good way) about this show? Cast is on an abandoned road. No music. No sound effects. Just a road and actors. Will there be zombies? You never. Freaking. Know. (Unless, I guess, you read the graphic novel.)
Here's my impression of every tense moment in any zombie movie, show, etc.
"Oh, a dead body." "Let's check it out!"
"Oh, a building." "Let's check it out!"
Why did they have to gut that zombie? YUCK. I looked away as he was stabbing into its stomach. As soon as I looked up, he jammed his hands in there and they showed it.
Interested to see if Carl survives or not. Not terribly surprising he's at risk of dying. Kid barely said a word the whole first season, suddenly he's talking and being brave. You knew he wasn't making it out unscathed. Wonder who shot him, though. And just where is that little girl?
Church scene was weird.
Highway scene, while they were all under the cars. God, I didn't think I could hold my breath that long.

I'd have to say that the second season started out great! Really looking forward to episode 2
SpoilerThe highway scene was definitely intense and the zombie that made it's way into the RV creeped me out.

I really enjoyed it. The hunter redneck is more BA than I remembered him being last season. Not that he wasn't then, but it's nice to have someone that actually knows what they're doing.
Oh, and that's one tricky hose.
SpoilerI'll be sad when that old guy dies, assuming he'll eventually die in some heroic or sacrificial way, paving the way for another character's coming-of-age-type moment. Most likely the suicidal chick. (I'm terrible at remembering names in this show)
And I agree about the RV zombie. It seemed unusually focused. I always want to tell the survivors to attack with their mouths closed. If you turn just by getting bit, you'll likely turn just by getting zombie guts in your eyes or mouth.
@RDark - They had to gut the zombie to make sure there were no little girl parts in its gut. Or maybe your question was rhetorical. Anyway. It reminded me of the season one scene where they beat the tar out of one to smear the guts all over themselves. (i.e., the nasty things we do to survive) I don't think Carl will die, but that shot really did come out of nowhere. My first thought was the one-handed redneck, but we really have no reason to assume that he's around. Does he even have a rifle?
Either way, I really like that they split the group. I'll likely prevent Shane from running off and it can introduce some new blo... er, characters to the show.
The church scene makes sense when you think about how desperate these people are. Even Rick, who says he isn't much of a believer, putting his faith elsewhere, is at his wits end. They literally have no hope, so they're grasping at anything. Yeah, even a mother asking to be punished so her child can be found safe or an atheist/agnostic asking for a sign. They're lower than rock bottom. They're proverbially six feet under and trying to claw their way back up through the dirt.
Unless you just meant that the church zombies were weird. I thought they were, the one veiled and the other smiling a little too intelligently. Have we seen zombies smile on this show before?

I felt the same about the RV zombie! While she was crying and there was blood near her lips and eyes, I was like OH MY GOD YOU CAN GET INFECTED!!
My question was rhetorical about the gutting lol
One-handed redneck didn't have a rifle, but that doesn't mean he couldn't have picked one up. Interesting theory. Was it a rifle or shotgun blast? Rifle, I guess, since it was far enough that we could not see the shooter.
I fast-forwarded the praying scenes, to be honest.
I meant the zombies, though. It was just SO WEIRD how they were just sitting there, staring straight forward.

It's really annoying having to find a site that doesn't require taking a survey or filling something out to watch the episodes. I wanna watch episode 2 dammit!

Watched the second episode on Monday night. Not a bad episode, but not my favorite.
Kind of slow, not too much happened, but still good.
Where the eff is Sophia?? I don't know if I can take many more characters dying or disappearing!
Freaking out about Shane and Otis. I re-watched the first episode with my roommate and they showed a like "This season on The Walking Dead" at the end. There was one part where you see Shane and Otis running from that horde and Shane looked like he was limping. Wonder what happened...
Kind of impressed at how the hunter guy has grown. Wondering what's going to happen when (if) his brother makes a return.

They're falling back into the angsty soap-opera nonsense again. Plus, I'm really coming to dislike Rick's skinny crabby wife and the blond-haired woman's (forget her name) QQ nonsense; I wish she'd either just commit suicide and get it over with, or come to grips. Also I'm a bit confused over why suddenly, there's reservations about handing guns out to everyone. I mean, really? in a world populated by zombies? Not like they can't find plenty of guns and ammo hanging around.
