I'm not annoyed by the wife or the blonde. The wife has actually seemed rather level-headed, considering everyone else in the group has been questioning Rick & whats-his-face. The blonde (I really need to work on remembering names...) has now had a near-death scare, so I think she may gain a desire to survive from that.
They skipped over some parts, but I think that added to the urgency of Carl's situation. I didn't mind. The black guy was getting pretty weird, but then the redneck gave him pills. Hopefully he'll be okay. I still like the old guy, since he's simultaneously Mr. Crazy Eyes and the group's voice of reason.
The new survivors are interesting, though we've really only seen 4 of them: Old Dr., Otis the fat hunter/emt, horse chick and Otis' wife. The doctor's response to Lori's "Admit it - you're in over your head" line was great.
The ending was awful and great at the same time. I really had a Left4Dead vibe from it, zombies at every turn, trying to desperately get away from a horde. (although I laughed out loud when he punched the one zombie)
