One thing that just jumped out at me... If zombies rip people to pieces like they did to Otis, how come so many zombies are full-on people?

I'm thinking, they're probably the only ones who can get around much, especially in the herds. The ones with missing legs and such are just groveling around in alleys, pinned in their cars and whatnot...they can't really get very far unless they're relatively whole.

I noticed the makeup and consistency, too, RDarken. The way Rick acted was perfect for as much blood as he'd given. HE TALKED ABOUT THE DEER. Kinda funny, but I'm glad he talked Lori back from her pit of hopelessness.

Glenn gets personality again, woot. Farm girl seems strangely into him. Not that there's anything wrong with her liking him, but it's not very subtle.

The ENDING - wow. They tricked me. Skipping what happened in the previous episode (jumping straight from the shot to Rick in the field) kept me from ever considering that Shane would've done that to Otis. I just took it for granted, based on what we saw, that the fat guy eventually got overrun. We knew Shane would survive, once we knew for sure that the head-shaving scene wasn't a flashback, but not the details.

I think Shane shot him in the leg (not the head) for one of two reasons:
1) He's not completely cold-blooded, it was more of a scared survival thing
and/or
2) He thought a screaming guy would make a better diversion than a corpse

2-1/2) More a possible addendum than a different reason...since Otis shooting the boy in the first place was the reason they were out there in Zombieville, he figured the guy owed for a soul anyway...or was at least expendable.

I haven't watched a single episode of the second season yet, due to how unlikable most of the characters were during the first season.

Have things changed for the better? Is the second season worth me giving the show a second chance?

It's still a character-driven drama, which means characters will periodically have emotional hangups, but I view season two as an improvement over the first already.

Fat zombie exploding was nasty. Andrea is annoying me so much. Where the eff is Sophia!?
Glenn and short-hair hooking up certainly supports my "he'll stay behind" theory. No way they're going to stay at Hershel's farm for the remainder of the series.
Trying so hard not to read anything online about the graphic novel.

Did anyone read the graphic novels here? I'm wondering if Daryl's speech to the old lady about the rose was actually in the books or if it was just a lame tie-in to this Hell on Wheels show that debuted after Walking Dead.

I think a herd rampage is incoming in the next episode or two. My guess. We DID have that herd in the first episode, but no rampage.

There probably hasn't been any because the group would have to be able to kill the entire horde. After all, we're down to a pretty small crew of people, so any deaths would be a big deal.
I did notice some little blonde girl at Hershel's last night. I hadn't seen her before, so I wonder if she's going to get eaten.

I also agree that we need moar zombie *** kicking action! the last 3 episodes have been soooo sloooow. I have to watch this show online so I'm trying to resist the urge to just skip the boring parts because it's been so slow. I really hope things start to pick up soon.

Pulling that fat, bloated zombie out of that well was a pretty sweet scene though.
