    Necro lost Soul Reaping ability.

My L20 N/Me suddenly has no Soul Reaping skills and even the entire category is gone. I can add skill points to Soul Reaping but I have no skills, no category for skills, and even when I see the skill trader they offer no skills for SR. Just blood, death and curses...anyone have any ideas what might have happened here? Haven't used this character for a while.

There aren't many Soul Reaping skills to begin with.

There are only 8 skills (3 of which are elite, so they won't be at the skill traders):

-3 of the 8 require Eye of the North
-2 of the 8 require Factions (but they are both elite skills)
-3 of the 8 require Nightfall (but 1 is an elite skill)

If you only have prophecies and/or factions, you won't have any skills for Soul Reaping (unless you have caught the Factions elites). For the other two, you may need to find a specific skill trainer in the part of the game (if you haven't already unlocked them on your account).

Oh wow. I had no idea. Never noticed this when I was playing as Necro. Thanks for the info.

The attribute is just that damn powerful, you don't even need to bring skills from it to justify always putting at least 10 levels into it.

Yup. S.R. these days is generally just used as energy management (at least for heroes). 8 or 10 points in SR, plus a relatively quick kill rate = infinite (sorta) energy.

It's powerful now...it was disgustingly OP before the SR nerf.

(Originally Necros got 1e for EVERY point in SR for EVERY death with no restrictions or timer). Most Necro players of that time had no idea what energy management was. It needed to be nerfed to change the way Necros were played.

As mentioned above, Prophcies didn't have any SR based skills at all. The wiki is down, but I don't recall using any of them until Nightfall (I do recall Signet of Lost Souls being introduced and then the SR Nerf hit and made it a "must have" skill).

At the time you could also get that energy in towns. Which didn't mean much except at Halloween.

But when Mad King Thorn killed an entire district of people and you soul reaped every last one of them... that was glorious.

Edit: Sorry, didn't really mean to necro a thread this old. Nostalgia got the better of me.

I think you still can soul reap in towns, don't you get energy for the undead dying in the D'Alessio Seaboard mission outpost? Maybe you don't SR players in town because I think it doesn't count against survivor, meaning they are just "laying down".
