Thief: Reveal vs. Expectation & Comments

Caithe is a thief, right?

Reasonably sure she is a Thief, but she does that charge thing and then a flame effect shoots out; which could potentially indicate that she is an Elementalist. However all the lore and everything we have heard about her implies that she is indeed a Thief!

Look at this video and watch closely around the 25 second mark:

There is a flaming swirl effect, which would be suggestive of an Elementalist. However the lore by ArenaNet on Caithe indicates she is a Thief. She actually does shadowstep in that video, but it's only a few frames; so people seem to miss it. Lore + Shadowstep is a Thief in my book regardless of the fire swirl!

Aaaawwww, dash all my hopes ... wait that was not Caithe in the first book, never mind; for the meantime I'll stay in denial and still think of her as a Necromancer.

Caithe is neither elementalist nor necro, that's for sure.

Here's the thing though. What she did could be anything, including racial skills or even thief abilities that are kept as surprise... I'd rather think racial ability. Or even healing over time maybe...

do we know if the thief has the "unlock chest "ability ? In my opinion ( this is just MY opinion ) one of the reasons WoW was and is such a success is that each class has a certain "perk "for playing it ( druids can shapeshift or run fast for example, rogues can pick locks and steal etc. ) apart from the way they deal damage or apart from their role in a party .
It's clear the thief would be the prime candidate to have a pick lock ability natively ( one could still open chests with other class but that would require either buying keys or"bashing chest" with risk of damaging stuff therein ) .
