Notice the part where I said someone buying something with RL doesn't impact my enjoyement. Because it does not. People in D3 are not competing with each other (because there's no PvP) and therefore it's morally correct.
I wouldn't be so calm with GW2 implemention if the items that are sold at the shop had better stats then what the game offered at launch and PvP wasn't its seperate template.
It's not the actual RL auction that bothers (although I would be a liar if I said I wouldn't implement things differently). What bothers me is the fact someone as big as Blizzard could have easily allowed an off-line only character, seperate from online mode (to prevent mods and dev commands from destroying the auction house) and they didn't. And that irks me.
Just look at how Ubisoft did with Might and Magic 6 and Anno 2070. The main features of the games are online-only but if your connection is cut-off or you simply have no internet at all you can still play the game as normal. Your persistent progress just isn't saved. And that's a perfect compromise between not screwing your paying customers and cutting down on piracy (which every company has the right to do).

How much change is required before we are allowed to complain?
But we're side-stepping Shawn's argument. Shawn's argument was not based on how D2 differs or not from D3, it was actually saying that this doesn't matter. Shawn's argument was based on the fact that D3 was designed to be online-only and so any comparison to D2 is irrelevant, much like WoW was designed to be an MMORPG so Warcraft 3 is irrelevant (Shawn's words).
So if they made D4 on Wii and Kinext, any comparison to D3 would be irrelevant, because it would be a different game designed from the ground up to work with the new controls. By Shawn's logic. Which I consider terribly flawed.

You can tell the quality of life of people by what they complain about
But Shawn's emphasis is on what the game is, i.e., how the developers designed it to be played. If they designed it to be "Better with Kinect," then who are we to argue?(subtle reference to Skyrim's Dawnguard trailer)
Ehh... D2 and D3 are both monster-clickers. Warcraft III and WoW are fundamentally different genes, not simply sequels, so of course arguing about the change is dumb. Unless we missed a memo about Diablo 3 being an MMO based on the D2 universe, I think we have a right to gripe about no offline option. Either way, such gripes are falling on deaf ears to those with seemingly-blind affection for the game and its heroic developers.
Wow, I'm a little sarcastic this morning. Maybe I should get some coffee...

Speaking of PvP, has Blizzard given any tentative date when this would be going up?

1.) i have played both warcraft 1 and 3 and even tried WoW, get your facts straight for ones.
2.) talking like that about vampire gase simply means you have nothing to chew on, you're losing sanity.
so you compare a single player game with a multiplayer game, way to go shawnAnd then there's my Steam library of 83 games. I wonder how I find the time to ***** about all those games! Oh wait, I don't have to, because no one complains about the lack of an offline mode on Team Fortress 2. I wonder why that is... hmmmm.....
Oh right. It's because it was designed to be an online game.
Silly me.
you're deluding your self, as if i care what and who you are. You're just mad that you're being proved wrong by a girl.
btw, you're being proven wrong by someone younger then you.........sign, ill stop before you drag me any lower......i need to dig to get to your level but oh well....sore loser.

I don't know why I keep checking this thread. I guess I'm always hopeful that it actually might have Diablo related stuff and not the same silly argument.
Can we please talk about builds or he AH or I don't know, Diablo.
I was also wondering why Belial was causing problems to one of my friends as a DH in normal. I remember dying towards the beginning of that fight and Shawn the jerkface didn't res me D= but my friend was so completely stuck at level 25, did anyone else find it that difficult? I'm mostly curious.

I only found a few of the fights difficult in Normal Mode. The fallen angel in Act IV was tough because of all the freezes. Diablo, of course. Then... I can't remember if it was Diablo or someone else, but one of the bosses would create three rings of lava that expanded and would eventually cover most of the ground. Was that Diablo? I don't think it was, but I can't remember. Anyway, that one was hard, too.
I haven't played since Monday, but I just watched a video online and want to log my Barbarian in!
