Hi and welcome to the GWOnline News forum!


The news forum is a place to post and discuss news related to Guild Wars 2 only (Pure Guild Wars 1 news goes into the Guild Wars 1 General Discussion forum). More general discussion about new stuff happening in the game should be kept in the general discussion forum.

Of course, news can come in all shapes and forms. To make it easier to navigate we have therefore set up a few basic rules:

Content
You can post news from either professional media outlets, official ArenaNet news or community generated content such as blogs. The only criteria are that the news are NEW (to us here) and RELEVANT. I will use my discretion when approving. Sometimes a new thread is not needed if it is only a small thing, maybe it can be added to an existing news item. This is particularly true for the large convention collection threads.

Some reccurring content, like weekly podcasts, have a dedicated collection thread. If you have news from these outlets, please post in the collection thread in stead of creating a new thread. As of today, the collection threads are:

[Gamebreaker.tv] Guildcast collection thread
[GWI] Podcast collection thread
[Massively] Flameseeker chronicles
[Tales of Tyria] Videocast collection thread

In addition, large conventions will also get a collection thread. (Pax 2011, Gamescom 2011 etc)
If you want to suggest a new collection thread, please send me a PM.


Naming
Each new thread title MUST start with the source within brackets at the start.
Example: [Incgamers] Awesome interview with ANet devs

If a source has a common acronym, please use that in stead of the full name, otherwise please use the full name for clarity.

[GW2PvP] GuildWars2 PvP
[GWI] Guild Wars Insider
[KTR] Kill Ten Rats
[MMORPG] mmorpg.com
[Tap] Tap Repeatedly
[TTH] Ten Ton Hammer
[TWIMMO] This Week In MMOs
If you want to add an acronym to the list, please send me a PM.

Just a small heads up that the threads posted by "GWO Newsbot" are automatic cross-posts from the GWOnline main page. News, reports, blog posts etc. These posts are also marked with an (!)


I will in most cases leave those threads open here in the forum to allow comments, although we would greatly appreciate if you could try to comment those items directly on the main page as well/in stead.

You know, to get up traffic a bit, which in turn could help us build the site to be better for everyone.

Sometimes I will close threads about specific news already discussed elsewhere in the forum, in which case I will leave a direct link to that discussion.

To make the browsing experience better in the News forum, and help people looking for specific kinds of news postings, we have implemented some thread prefixes.

Now, if you want to look at only one category, you can easily filter the forum by prefix in the search box at the bottom of the thread index.

Please use these when posting a new thread (I will add one where there isnt one already, but it would make my life easier if I didn't have to. )

The current prefixes are:

Official:
Everything that comes directly from ArenaNet or NCSoft.

Interview:
Someone talked directly to someone? Interview!

Pod/Video:
Everything with sounds and/or moving pictures goes here (unless it is Official News or an Interview).

Preview/Review:
Here we post all the previews and reviews that are posted about the game.

GWOnline:
Everything posted on the GWOnline.Net main page is auto cross-posted into the News Forum. This is the prefix for those posts.

GWOnline Exclusive:
A sub-set of the GWOnline posts, for original GWO content such as articles created by our content team.
