Hi All,
Not sure if there is a thread on this....if so i apologize and ask the moderator to merge.
To me three major things are left as Guildwars2 releases W v W v W, 8th profession and racial skills.
I believe that the current likeness or plan of most of us, on race/profession selection, will chagne/further solidify in the exact knowledge of racial skills.
Hence to pass the time in between Anet finally deems 'it's ready' to reveal, lets talk about racial skills that you are dreaming to be in the game.
Since Asuras get a battle suit that everybody can wear (!) as a Conjure skill, Humans have Hounds of Balthazar as a Summon skill, I hope they will follow that trend and offer a broad variety of skills from different types that are otherwise missing from the Profession (e.g. Elementalists are the only ones with Conjures - which BTW look very bad compared to other skills with the current numbers; Why should an allied Ranger pick up my Frostbow?)
But back on topic:
There has got to be some sort of Sylvari Oakheart summon for me in the game (like the one hinted in the first trailer), a Form that is like a "Whipping Willow" where enemies are kept at bay and allies can rally at my roots. Of course any skill that effects the environment sounds fitting, like "Grasping Roots" that was rumored to be in the game.

I do think (hope) that there will be a lot of overlap in skills offered for the different races, and the differences will be more flavor than actual abilities. I expect each race to have a few options for summoning, self-support, party-support, a few attacks, ...
But if I am wrong about that, then the race-profession combos will depend on the skills each race gets.
About the conjure, it would be useful (1) if someone forgot to take a ranged weapon, or (2) to give someone else than elementalist an elemental ability (e.g. frost to slowdown and freeze).

nice shawn....i didn't know we had some in-game racial skills documented already. In general heal, prot and summon skills. Too bad the best ones are elites :(
Ok guys ... After seeing the race skill video by yogscast i am seriously reconsidering my race/profession lineup... i know that we're still in beta and these might be changed but surely they won't change every skill and what wevsaw might remain as is.
For example... I was thinking of a norn elementalist, but all norn race skill are forms of melee range. Those are suited for a warrior or guardian professions.
Has that video or beta race skill usage effected your lineup thought proces as well?
Plz feel free to participate.

I don't think you should change based on racial skills. To be honest, outside of the Charr skills, most of them looked pretty underwhelming.

I'm hoping that the racial skills we had access too were just a small subset. In fact, I am hoping that they have enough racial skills that we don't yet know about that will make the races fairly equal in all respects. Because right now, they are seriously unbalanced.
While ANet did say racial skills are supposed to add flavor and should not be strong enough to influence your profession-race combo, it could totally make a difference for me. As is, thanks to the summon elite that comes with the CE, otherwise I'd seriously reconsider sylvari guardian because of lack of summon (weapon spells don't count). I was previously reconsidering norn elementalist before I learned that elementalists have two summons.
I'll wait until closer to release to finalize my choices, I do hope ANet will release more info on racials until then.

I think a melee elite would mix very well with an ele. From what I seen, they have a lot of PBAoE options.
Are all racial skills elites? They aren't right?
The melee elites in question change your skill bar, though.
