What?
What?In GW1, necros and elementalists were not healers. What? They are in GW2, because primary healers are no longer in the game.
Mesmers were excellent soloists.
What?Keep in mind that every profession has a profession-unique mechanic. This should serve as enough counter-argument to everyone who says "no hexes in GW2" and "no edenial in GW2".
Except that, there are no hexes. But there's nothing to stop the mesmer from having a few hexes.
What?In fact, other professions have hexes already (they're just not called hexes).

Just waiting for the mesmer reveal, to jump in and say "I told you so".
I am not blowing smoke, what I am saying is what I expect ANet to do with the 8th profession based on the info we do have, and personal predictions.
Which is better than just going "what" every time someone says something ;)
edit:
If you recall the original "no hexes in GW2":
The point of removing hexes was never to removing hex-like functions, but rather to remove the hex-removal mechanic as well as the vast number of hexes you had to memorize and understand.Instead of having to learn what a potentially unlimited pool of hexes do, players only have to learn about a much smaller set of conditions. (...) It should be noted that many of the things that necromancers were able to do with hexes in the first game can be accomplished through other means in Guild Wars 2.
So yeah, mesmers will do mesmerish stuff via conditions mainly like daze, chill, stun, and ... I seem to remember blackout was in at some point...
Also, if you look at the guardian's weapon spells, you can easily see that mesmer can have profession-specific abilities that we have yet to hear of.

I’ve always wondered if people saw this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=_zJtOOzEjas
1 min mark shows how to create a spell like chaos storm, just like GW1 no hex needed. 5:56 shows how you can create a conjure phantasm without creating a spirit (in the GW1/Ritualist way) or a hex.

On a second, closer look, the IW seems to be coming off the Charr. Guardian weapon, perhaps.

Yeah, there's a guardian sword skill that looks just like that.

I would definitely not mind being able to summon illusory beasts!
Summon the illusion of a lion to cause fear...
Aoi's example is also really good!
jkfshkje so many ideas just give me a job or something.
I've already seen mesmer enemies with Chaos Storm in one of the demos, so I'd be extremely surprised if there were no mesmers.
