Because them not being on the ballot -and thus making the vote between two remaining candidates, who as far as I've been informed are the only two with actual chances in the long run- make the GoP look more united?

I don't think it was intentional. I think they were too busy / too arrogant to do things on time. It's hilarious: Four of the five GOP front runners can't even be on the ballot in one state. Seriously thought it was an Onion article when I saw it. I wonder if this has ever happened before.

They have a team working with them, surely people in the system somewhere reminded them that this was important. I'm sorry, but honestly, if they and their team can't remember to do this, do we really want them as president?
I'd understand (somewhat) if there was a strategy involved in doing it later, if there was a pro & con with doing it later. Like if they could get more done by delaying that.
