The scary thing is that people vote for them.
I used to think all the crazy right-wingers like Palin et al would break off into a crazy new party and we could maybe have two relatively normal parties. They did, The Tea Party, but they were SO CRAZY that no one wants to be associated with them.
When you have two main parties, you end up voting for a lot of things you don't agree with. I'm basically fed up with the extreme right, but can't stomach the far left.
Which is why I only vote third party these days. Not a chance in hell of winning until enough people get fed up with the Big Two and do the same, though.
But are many of the Democratic candidates really EXTREME left? Though I'm in favor of equal rights, universal healthcare, less corruption in insurance, more social programs, education, etc., so I guess I'm kind of a nutcase myself.

Well, they did say they'd do anything to get Obama out of office, apparently that includes lying. I am not surprised.
Then I am a nutcase too. But sincerely, I don't know why that makes me a nutcase. I think the far right like to label us as nutcase and far left, when in fact we're probably quite near the centre. I am pro-capitalism and for a small government (provided the rules are good and enforced, privatization can work).
Mind you, the US needs a big gov atm to restore the order, and a sense of cooperation.

The US government needs to stop wasting money - big or small government; endless battle..

I was being incredulous when I called myself a nutcase.

Wasting less is always good of course, but I think controlling corruption should be a priority at the moment.

That too; kind of go together to some degree.

Good luck controlling corruption with SuperPACs, ubiquitous corporate lobbyists, and citizens united.
