It's very simple, really. You're going to have to go outside those walls. You can't do everything inside, and unless you've somehow managed to wall up an entire city, you're rapidly going to run out of room. Aside from which, if the water supply inside those walls is polluted, you're in trouble anyway. Sure it can be filtered or steam distilled, but it's still better to have a source of clean water.

Needing people able to hunt and forage for food and supplies was mentioned as a necessity by MV, so he's not planning to stay inside his walls.

Cool. MV, what does the settlement surrounding the reactor consist of? Buildings damaged by natural disasters or ramshackled third world housing? If it's the latter, I think we're best of working on pallisades and simple support beams but if it's the former we can do pallisades and fancier stuff, like doors and wooden windows (Skyy could provide the richer with genuine glass when you two aren't fixing up the reactor I guess).

Sadly, my best talent (Art) doesn't seem as useful as I hoped it would be. Maybe I could create beautiful paintings to temporarily distract people from thinking about the crapfest that is the post apocalyptic world. Or maybe I could design some stuff....

Hmmm... let's see. I've done some home remodeling work with my father for a number of years and I could do pretty much everything except electrical and plumbing. I have some experience fishing and enjoy doing it. I have a Shiba Inu, which are great dogs for hunting small game or at the very least being a watchdog, and a cat that can kill rats and other pests.
