GuildMag had a chat with Jeff Grubb who were happy to answer some lore question about GW2's biggest bad boy.

So, the explosion that sunk Orr didn't affect Zhaitan at all. That doesn't look good for defeating him or any of the other dragons...

Does anyone know how/why all the dragons went to sleep in the first place? Or why they all woke up around the same time? I know why Primordus woke up, but what about the others?

So it seems corruption is a factor which comes over from Guild Wars lore. The Lich was corrupt, Shiro and Varesh and even Rurik got corrupted and held some semblances of who they were. Abaddon himself was the root of this and could have been a corrupted god - after all the gods did live in Arah which was above Zhaitan's body.

I think they may have the story span more though and leave more unanswered than answered...which is fair enough.

Let's get the chronomancers in - I so want to have my mesmer play as a minstrel and then later go back in time and see himself play as the minstrel whilst taking the Lost Scroll from the future back to set everything right back in good old 198..er 1325.
