    What press told me about GW2 that I didn't already know

    If you find any other bits of info that are news to GW2 aficionados, post it up:

    -there are some invisible walls to prevent players from throwing themselves in huge holes
    -atm, the game demands high-end PCs, it probably will get better before release though
    -self-healing is not really necessary if you play well and take advantage of other's boons
    -skills cost various number of skill points to unlock
    -sidekicking only scales you down, so you can go back but not skip ahead

    You unlock skills by using that weapon (so you unlock staff skills by using the staff, not by using a sword).

    I don't think it will. There seems to be some coddling, but I think the game is just going to have a wide appeal: People who need their hands held will be able to enjoy it, as will those of us who do not.

    I'm basing that off the TB Mesmer video. At about :40, she says "the Norn starting area doesn't have a lot of whole lot of water for underwater combat, I haven't fully leveled the harpoon or trident skills," then around 1:25, she says you start the game with one skill and by killing enemies you "unlock the next one." I could be mistaken in that the skills aren't unlocked by using the same weapon, but it sounds like it to me.

    Oh god... Ok well I hope that underwater weapons receive special treatment since they are, well, special.

    It could be that underwater weapons level separately from ground weapons. That would make sense as the combat is quite different.

    Not really, I just want to be able to jump into a pit if the mood strikes me. As long as ALL pits aren't sealed off like that, then I suppose that will be acceptable.

    If they want to attract new players, especially with an intense combat gameplay, they do need the hand holding to begin with.

    Hopefully, the hand-holding won't get in the way of gameplay. I do hate it when I have to wade through tutorial stuff on my Nth character, I am an alt-a-holic after all. Hopefully the hand is there only if you need it.
