Relax, the entire GW2 community is hammering that site now. You have 48 hours to sign up, and testers are based on needs (of ANet, not who "needs" to get in beta the most), not first-come-first-serve, so no need to panic.

It sucks a little bit that I have to apply and hardware check with my netbook from an "away position" on vacation. If they eliminate candidates by hardware specs, I am out as the beta FAQ says you can't re-apply later with the same e-mail adress.

Just keep trying. It make take a few tries to get through, with everyone hitting it at once. I got through after about a dozen attempts.

Try clicking it in the list that drops down when you start typing instead of writing out the full name of the country. That worked for me.
