I've still got a week and a half until I'm home and able to pay ME3 and all this ending stuff doesn't have me very excited for it. I must ask though, how many endings are there? Surely they must have been able to get 5-6 diff ones out of all the choices you make, right?

There are three nearly identical endings.

So anyway: Bioware makes a good ending, then makes a crappy ending and puts that in the game, and then sells the good ending as DLC once the fans have complained enough. And they'll say that they made this ending because they listened to their fans. It's brilliant if you ask me.

I'm undecided about them changing it. On one hand, I agree that getting the FTC involved and actually getting the ending rewritten would set a precedent that wouldn't bode well for creativity in media.

However, on the other hand, after spending the last five years purchasing collector's editions and spending hours upon hours on a game that promised an epic adventure where choices have consequences across three games only to have all those choices you've made over half a decade of gameplay reduced to three different colored animation sequences, yeah, it annoys me.

It doesn't bother me that...

but, it just doesn't feel like all the choices I've made had any effect on the outcome of the war with the Reapers. There was no difference.

I think creative integrity should remain intact... this is the story you wanted to tell. Even if it's for the fans. The criticism should be "it's not for me" I've recently finished the Hunger Games trilogy and the ending of that was borderline flip a tableable but not because it was bad, but because it's not what I wanted. It wasn't what I imagined in my head. There almost is an innate sense of entitlement that comes from investing time into something that people should lose from their ego.

Hunger Games is actually one of the books I was thinking about. When I finished the first one, it felt like a conclusion. Then I learned there are two more books in the series. Really felt like it was supposed to end with that one.

Yeah, sorry, I'll side with whining kids. I didn't play it. I know a lot of nerd rage is just ignorable, but this sounds like they actually messed up bad on that one and possibly because they were ending the franchise anyway so meh why spend money. By the time people get the 3rd ending, they'll already have made their income. That's just bad.

Wait, based on that video, if the theory is true, then the ending is AWESOME. Though I'd agree it's not a true end to the series.

"It's just a dream" sounds like a lame excuse for an ending. And releasing the true ending in DLC is a douche move (unless they announced that they would prior to the game coming out, in which case it's up to customers to decide whether to buy or not).
