The roots of ApeX date back 5+ years ago spanning multiple games such as CS, L2, Aion, FFXIV, Rift, and SWTOR. We are and have always been a smaller community. We have always strived to be a top competitor for whatever game we play. Over the years we have formed a very solid core group of players that are dedicated to seeing the guild succeed in whatever we do.
Our main goal has always been to be as competitive as possible while still respecting the real life obligations of our members. While in-game success is an important part of ApeX, the other part of that goal is just as important.
Our members pull together like a family and we strive to create a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Our member base ranges from the medium to the hardcore and we like to accommodate to everyone's playstyle equally.
We pride ourselves on being competitive and holding our members to a higher standard. Being an ApeX member is traveling the road less taken. There is no "easymode" with us. Everything is hard-fought and earned. Often outnumbered but never outgunned.
Becoming a Member of ApeX
We are currently recruiting members for Guild Wars 2. We are looking for active and dedicated players that want to contribute to the guild's success as much as your own. Being the smaller guild that we are means our members as individuals mean that much more to the overall success of the guild. Anybody can join a huge zerg guild and be another face in the crowd. We choose to remain a smaller guild to provide a family-like atmosphere for our members and because we prefer quality over quantity. When you join ApeX you're not just joining a guild, you're joining a family.
We are looking for quality players. By quality we don't just mean how well you play the game, but your attitude as well. How you conduct yourself inside and outside the of the guild is just as important to us as how well you play the game.
To apply, follow these steps:
1. Create an account on Guildwork here.
2. Fill out an application here.
3. Check back on your application frequently so that you may answer any questions we may have for you (will be posted on your application page).
If we like what we see in your application, we will invite you to ApeX on a trial period. This will basically be a period for both parties to get to know each other and see if we're a good match for each other. We understand choosing and committing to a guild is a big decision so this also gives you a chance to see if we're the right guild for you. If you decide we're not, then you can opt out at any time with no hard feelings.
During this period we will be evaluating your personality, your activity (in-game, on the website, and on ventrilo), your playstyle, and how well you fit in with other ApeX members. This trial period will last anywhere between 2 to 4 weeks so that we can decide if you're a good fit for ApeX and you can decide if we're a good fit for you.
Note: Since we're still waiting for GW2 to be officially released, the trial period may be extended beyond the 4 week period to give us a better chance for evaluation. Also, we may be a bit more lenient with your activity between betas as we don't expect you to be around constantly for a game you can't even play. Thus, we will use the time during betas for evaluation.
Frequently Asked Questions
What will be the main focus for ApeX in Guild Wars 2?
ApeX being the diverse group of players that it is means we will be competitively focusing on all aspects of the game. We have members ranging from medium to hardcore all with their own playstyles and mentalities. So as to not make anybody feel alienated, we will focus on each area respectively. This means that no matter what your main interest happens to be, you will have a place in ApeX.
Are you a hardcore guild?
No. While we have some members that can be considered "hardcore", we are not primarily a hardcore guild. We do like to be competitive but we like to keep it fun at the same time and not treat the game as a full-time job. That's not to say we won't accept hardcore players, just know that not everyone in the guild will share your same mentality.
How many players do you currently have and how many will you cap at?
We are currently sitting at around 25 active players and will stop open recruitment at around 30-35. At that point only exceptions will be made for exceptional players that we feel would fit in well with ApeX.
What is your looting policy?
Loot isn't as big of an issue in todays MMOs as it was in past, more "hardcore" MMOs. In today's MMOs it is a lot easier to get drops and gear up. So for this reason we have an open looting system. If you're there and you can use it, you can loot it. Though, we do try to spread out drops evenly amongst members, so if somebody happened to have just gotten a drop on the previous or same run, they will be asked to forgo looting so that everyone has a chance to get something. This is the system we used in SWTOR and it worked well; and we see it working just as well in GW2 as it's said to be fairly easy to gear up.
This is another reason we choose to remain a smaller, close-knit guild as we don't have to worry about loot drama because everyone is looking out for each other and trying to help one another out.
Why should I choose ApeX over other guilds?
To put it bluntly, we're not in a position where we absolutely need to recruit more players. As stated before, we have a very solid and active group of dedicated players that have been with ApeX for years. What we are looking for though, are dedicated players that fit in with our group and want to become a part of the ApeX family. Players that want to be in a competitive but relaxed environment where you can goof around and have fun with your fellow members or get competitive when you need to. It's not easy to find a place where you can feel like you belong but if you share these same mentalities then this may be the place you do.
We are an equal opportunity guild which means that you get out of the guild what you put in, no matter how long you have been with us, so you don't have to worry about cliques or favortism. We care more about progressing the guild itself as a whole more than our own individual characters. A lot of the time you will see officers and veteran members pass on drops for other members that they feel may need it more because we care more about the guild overall.
If this sounds like the kind of guild you're looking for fill out an application. If you have any questions at all, feel free to message Ziddy on our site.
