read first: official forum post concerning old versions of windows
For what it's worth... even if there is only 1 person still using windows 95, 98 and ME each, that would add up to at least an active population of 6000 people. Given the age of the game, I would dare to say that this is an impressive number, however it is more likely an order bigger pushing the 10000. I don't think there are more than a handful of online games that can still boast these numbers, six years after release.
I would be curious for official numbers, unfortunately these cannot be released for the simple reason they would be compared to WoW's numbers (which, granted, is also dying)

Okay, I give.
1 person uses 95
1 person uses 98
1 person uses Me
Isn't that a total of 3?

Our logs indicate that fewer than 0.05% of our active players use one of these versions of Windows. So yeah that means 6000 people. I'd say that there are way more players than that though.
Yeah, I wouldn't use this info to try and find out how many active users there are. Especially since "active" is quite subjective. I last played during the Canthan New Years, does that make me active? If not, will I be active if I play again tomorrow? Even if it's for one day or would I need to play for several days straight? If playing at the New Years festival DID count me in, will I still be in within one month, two?
Eh, I'd prefer to use districts over this info to see how the community is going, maybe it's not a great way to know how many people are active atm, as that can vary widely from day to day and even hour to hour. But if Kamadan only has a few districts, that means the community is declining (or people are selling stuff elsewhere). If there are multiple districts in towns that aren't major hubs or farming areas (weekly drop zones included) then the community is doing good, as these are usually more sparse.
why 6000, when you make the number of users higher the number also go's higher, 3 of each could also be 30 of each. (i know, i am stretching it)
it's kinda flawed to just say 3 and so 6000 players, the more ppl who use ether of them the higher the player base that's still online.
Ever heard of the word "minimum", sorudo?
