My new GW computer arrives this week!

I bought a new computer specifically to run GW2. At max settings.

Googled a 30% off coupon and bought 16 gigs of RAM, the best graphics card that HP offered (no idea what it even is, I just clicked it). I'm going to rock out to the Beta this month.

I still need to get mine. But it's got to be a laptop for my work and I don't have that much of a budget, so here's to hoping it'll run decently. I trust ArenaNet though, because of the wonderful performance of GW1 on a machine from 2004, all maxed out.

Cool for you though. 16GB RAM seems a bit overkill :P

Well he said "the best HP offered" so there's a pretty good change it's pre-built.

My HD5850 and old E8400@3.6 will have to do, might make it to max and otherwise I'll play at medium.

Do you know what it says? For all we know, it could be a low end graphics card. Usually it'll say Radeon (aka: AMD) with a four digit number or it will say nVidia with either "GTX" or "GT" followed by a 3 digit number. Example:

Radeon 6870
nVidia GTX 560

I found myself with a surprise tax rebate/return from 2008, and I am going to buy a new computer pretty soon, I think. I think this time around, rather than buying all the parts separate and putting it together myself (a job which terrified me, due to my history of clumsiness and breaking things), I will order all the components I want from PC Specialist and have them build it and send it.

I almost feel sad about my current desktop though... it has served me well, despite my first graphics card exploding. I'll probably just take it apart and sell the parts... poor thing.

Still... much excitement. I'm feeling it!

I think it's the first one. To be fair, I have no idea if it's any good or high level, I just clicked the most expensive since they were all pretty comparable in price.

I think my friend has the Radeon 6870. Anyway, you're certainly fine for GW2 with expensive stuff :P

Still debating on whether I need to update my GPU; it's a 5750, so I doubt it'll be a problem, but there's so many prettier ones...

Well, I can barely afford the complete package of a PC containing stuff at the same performancelevel as a 5750.
