Yup yup, totally agreed on the FDA, which is why I was concerned in the first place.
They do a lot of good, don't get me wrong, but they're still a part of the government. And our government doesn't have the greatest trend of keeping its people above money these days.

I believe the FDA is bullied and mistreated by others in the government. They are understaffed and underfunded. I believe if someone in government wants to "help a buddy's business, just throttle the funding to prevent adequate testing.

Wow, trace amounts of plastic chemicals seeping into foods.
I bet this will shorten the average lifespan of people in the industrialized countries to that of the average dead meat child farmer in like Uganda or whatever.
People seriously worry too much about every little thing.

That presentation was low on science and high on gross and scare. I hate those.
Meanwhile, this is the first hit I got searching for "ammonia in food":
(don't watch if you fear learning)
Soooo, ammonia is routinely used to kill E.coli. Irony is that "in 2011, Oliver (from Lady's video) came under fire for lack of food safety protections in his restaurants and illnesses associated with under cooking mince meat that may have been contaminated with E.coli." - wiki

Well, that video looked like it came from a TV show, so I wouldn't trust all the info outright.
I did read a book on the meat industry several years ago and it was pretty gross.

Gross, yes. They make sausages from animals.
But to say we should advocate against ammonia seems dumb given the arguments presented in the 2nd video (assuming those arguments are correct and not totally made up).
Science > Fear when it comes to decision-making.
Also, the part when he argues against something that would have been good for him to use.

Well, I wasn't really commenting on the ammonia thing. I can't remember which book I read... Maybe it was Fast Food Nation, but that doesn't sound right. Anyway, it had a section on how meat is prepared and packaged and basically tons of people die and some factories just kind of let the meat sit around on the floor and crap like that.

Thankfully (hopefully) safety and health standards have improved since.
