I read that as "builds I intend to ruin this weekend" and I was like yep, that sounds about right.
I think I'll play an engineer since they do not appeal to me at all, yet I've heard they require skill to do right. Maybe I'll stumble upon something fun before I make a "real" character.
Since I concentrated on one character (Charr Guardian) in the press beta, I want to try out at least 2-3 professions this time. Something other than Guardian (which I already played) and Ranger (which I'm 100% sure about making at launch).
Let me just say this though:
Guardian + 2H Sword = fun
Etherial sword fighting for you = cute

I'll give those guardian weapon skills another try but I wasn't too happy with their durations during the press beta. Still, guardian is a lot of fun.
I picked warrior and thief because they are two profession I will not play at release (unless I fall in love with them)... mainly because there are professions that overlap in gameplay too much and appeal to me more. Warrior overlaps with guardian and ranger, and thief overlaps with mesmer.

It just dawned on me that I don't know much about the attribute system. Anyone have any good links for info?
Derp, nevermind. I forgot about the wiki!

Necromancer: I fancied the scepter+focus > Staff set-up alongside dipping freely into Death Shroud ^_^; oh and Signet of Spite is quite nice.

"Purged in death's shadows, Necromancy wails anew, Life that is breathless."
I've no idea what I'll play - I think this one is just a familiarisation with how it all works for me.
I'll have a mesmer and a thief fo' shizzle at release - engineer and guardian are the two which I'm not too sure about at this point, however racial skills are something I'd like to know before cementing them into my thought process.

i don't know yet, i know how i think when playing beta's so i will try not to use a necro.
beta's can ruin allot when you play your favorite prof/class, it already happened when i played other beta's and since allot can change at release the expectation will be different then first thought.
i just know i can't stay away from the necro but ill try, am thinking of making a charr warrior the classic way (sword/shield) or a norn thief(2 daggers and 1 sword/dagger)..........mmm, a really long lady playing the stealth type.....something is not right here![]()

If you like summoning, then maybe mesmer would be a good pick. I know that mesmer is more like thief in gameplay (you did mention thief) and that their summons are not really summons (more like visible hexes) but you might actually enjoy it while waiting for the necro. It's a unique gameplay anyway so it's worth trying.
Elementalist also has two summons (one regular, one elite), and engineer has turrets (though some people don't like turrets, so that really depends on your taste).
My thief would have been asura, but that is not a choice here. It'll be the smallest race I can get. This is one rare case where I go with the stereotype, but only because if I do play with stealth, I will mix it with actually hiding in bushes etc.
