Scaling doesn’t change your equipment bonuses, so a L80 scaled down to 10 will be stronger than a “natural” L10, but they shouldn’t ever be able to 1-shot everything they face.

Does that mean 1-shotting players their own level is intended? #conspiracy

    It's not a bug, it's a feature.

I suppose so. I noticed the damn Naga Blood Witch doing around 2100 damage with some of her attacks. That is enough to kill any player between 16 and 20. I thought that might have been due to event scaling... but it was intentional? I hope not. Being one-shotted by a boss is not much fun. Especially if you can't see what that boss is doing, making it impossible to dodge the attack.

Since there’s a lot of topics and discussions on this, I figured I’d make a post to let you guys know that we’re listening to your feedback on the matter, and there are valid points on both sides of the issue. In general, we’ve been fairly happy with the difficulty of the game in most places. However, we’re still in the process of working on PvE balance, so a lot of things will probably be adjusted and changed in the upcoming weeks. Here’s some of the areas we’re looking into updating:

    1. New-player experience: It often takes people a while to get used to GW2 combat and learn to avoid attacks and learn what their skills do and how they work. We’re looking at slowing down the rate in which we introduce different enemy mechanics so that new players have more of a chance to get accustomed to the game.
    2. Event scaling: We’re looking at ways to make the scaling on a lot of events work better for large amounts of players.
    3. Monster balance: Some enemies are significantly more difficult than others while others aren’t very threatening- we’re working on updating the balance for both of these categories so that there’s a more consistent difficulty level between various enemy types.
    4. Individual quest and event balance: Some events and personal story quests can be overly difficult, and we’re looking at identifying these places.

Again, thanks a lot for all the feedback on this- we’re always trying to make the game a great experience, and feedback from you guys on what you’re enjoying and not enjoying helps us improve it.

    There you go zayren :)

Heh, was it that one in the water? Anyways, I spend like 10 mins trying to find a way to her lair. Only to get one-shotted and I was alone...

I seriously hoped they would also scale equipment. It really makes a difference if you have a weapon which strikes as twice as hard.

Hahah, I was swimming around that lake looking for the Blood Witch as well.
When I did eventually find the entrance to the cave (My map bugged out on me, so that made it only harder), I got ganged up by a group of Krait D:

No way I could solo this event.

Oddly enough, some people claimed they defeated her with only 3 level 20's. I suspect some of these bosses still need to have their scaling tweaked. She is not supposed to be that easy with so few players, nor that difficult with a team of 12 players (like when I fought her).

And getting to her was quite tricky as well. Way too many barracudas, sharks and nagas that rip you to shreds. Just looking around I could see about 20 to 30 enemies around me in the water that respawned really fast. And bare in mind that visibility was very limited underwater, so there probably were a lot more enemies than that. Yes, getting through all those mobs is the hardest part of that battle. The cave is easy to miss in all that darkness.

But then once you get to her, she hits hard. Level 23 players were being insta killed with some of her attacks, which you could not anticipate. I got hit for over 2100 damage several times, which is an insta-kill, even at level 19.

I don't think I ever saw the Naga Blood Witch Boss. It seemed that most of the bosses were push-overs with small groups though.

One boss I hated: I got caught in the town of Nageling once with the Giant (Charr Territory). He had this nasty stomp that I survived a few times by dodging backward (not skill, luck). Later on, I showed up and noticed a couple of dozen players fighting him. All I kept thinking was . o O ( thankfully I'm not in melee ). Those melee players constantly got one-shotted. I'm not sure there is enough time to dodge the stomp.
