The ui indicates the level for an event and wether its a group or elite event. Ofcourse there should be those. The events I encountered were not classified as such though and still difficult to solo. I didnt encounter many of them as most events were bum rushed (succesfull or not) so its too early to tell.

Ah, I didn't pay attention to the UI that much. I noticed the skill point challenges on the map, those tended to be hard for solo players. Otherwise if something was big or there were a lot of foes, I knew it was going to be difficult. Perhaps those you encountered were misclassified... or maybe they were solo-able but required better gameplay?

Lol yes the last is indeed a possibility, as said its still early in the game so skill might very well be an issue. I do wonder however how the scaling works in relation to respawns, at a point I cleared the road of balista's with another player with no one else being there, after we had cleared them out an group came escorting a trader through the same area, ballista's and sons of Svanir instantly repopped and killed us.

Might be but these were there before also.
Did that one twice. Second time, this happened:

Charged into a wall and got stuck. Then all hell came down on him. Annoyingly enough though, if he charged too far from the group where he could no longer be hit, his regen triggers almost immediately, and it's incredibly fast. He went from 80% back to full HP in 2-3 seconds.

Yes, but this issue is events aren't supposed to trigger unless there are enough players present. The problem I noticed is I would be passing through an area on my way somewhere else, and by entering an area I would trigger one of these boss events. Then I felt compelled to stay and help since I was the triggering effect, but how many people are going to realize that or even choose to stay and help when they do realize that. Also players leaving an area mid event was an issue that scaling didn't seem to handle well(also the reverse of that was true too.).

Scaling is difficult to do well, but fortunately, easy to measure. I do hope ANet is collecting data and adjusting as required.

Yeah, not a big fan of the scaled up HP on some of those bosses. Several event bosses pretty much degenerated to spam-skills-on-recharge-while-reading-forum. I'd rather they summon minions or something to increase difficulty, instead of just "hit me for another 2 minutes."
