I need a few more opinions.
I've probably said it before, the graphics of GW2 somehow feel weird to me.
I've set settings to max, so they should look good (the card is rather new as well), and I constantly see people praising them.
While they certainly don't look bad, and I usually don't care much about graphics, for some reason I'd prefer the graphics as they were in GW1.
But I can't figure out WHY.
They simply don't look that great to me - I'd compare them to a game at least 5 to 10 years old. Perhaps it's the style?
Ideas, comments?
[edit]Could it be depth perception?

I agree that they look a bit odd compared to what I'm used, but there's no contradicting that they look good (as in technologically good), if you ask me.
I'm pretty fond of the graphics, especially when it comes to objects off in the distance. In GW, objects in the distance always looked flat and crappy (objects that you'd eventually get to, like trees and rocks).
I don't know if it will make a difference, but Anet did say that BWE1 was going to be optimized to the CPU, but that they were working on getting it GPU optimized. That may help a little, but I'm not really sure.

beta is beta, a lot of the better looking stuff just isn't in there yet - some press beta people commented on this and demo'd the differences in graphics settings, speculating that there wasn't a huge leap in difference due to it not being totally polished in that area yet.

Leave the damn cat alone.
Making the game look extra-shiny is always going to be the last thing they do, and I am sure they are aware that visually it's neither polished nor optimized. So it's cool.

Pull the trigger man! It's just a beta cat! It don't matter until its released! Beta IS beta after all!
The graphics didn't look all that strange to me. Of course, I didn't fiddle with any of the graphic sliders or options, and left it at its "middle of the road" default setting. I don't start testing how well a game looks until after release anyways, unoptimized code and beta-aiding software/additions can tend to slow things down or make things choppier than usual.
For now I do prefer the clean, polished look of GW1, and GW1 looked gorgeous from the first beta. GW2 has a slightly plasticky look to it, similarly to EQ2 for example.

I forgot to turn the graphics to max on my PC. I cranked them up on my laptop once, but had to turn them back down pretty quickly. Anyway, they looked really nice to me, but so much bloom.
