Thread: magic find

    magic find

So... I found out there's quite a few MF items, in classic d2 tradition. It's was the obviously missing stat in GW1, for good or for bad. Since in many cases the game is based on skill, I'd see how MF gear will be the default set for almost everyone once they master their class.

I'm not sure what 'magic find' is but I got lots of blue gear for other professions other than my own during the BWE.

I'm hoping that between us in TRUE we can each stock up on gear from such finds.

    If I'm understanding this correctly...

Imagine a rune that you can put in your armor that increases the chance of foes you kill dropping rare items, but because it takes up a rune slot, it weakens your character compared to if you had put a vigor or whatever rune. Now imagine that it stacks too, so you can literally boost your chances of rare drops but weaken your character quite a bit. That is magic find.

Woot magic find. Woot farming. Woot D3 coming out in less than....oops w/t

I do like my magic find--looking forward to seeing how high it can go/akin to its effectiveness in end-game GW2 PvE. I wouldn't see why it wouldn't work in WvW?

After seeing this thread, I wikied magic find and the first effect that is listed as giving it is this: Outmanned

So I'm thinking that magic find will definitely work in WvW. Also, the only item I saw that gave it was 1%, so don't expect to have a ton of this on your gear. (5-10% maybe?)

Cheers to Alaris and djacob - I think I understand it now.

So consumables will be a big factor in GW2 I take it then!

Consumables make 'chance' and 'effectiveness' more (As well as other things) and so I see that straight out of the gate on this one Anet will be looking for players to gorge themselves additional items to 'up their game'.

I got al of that from the Cider Apple thing from djacob's link.

I could very well be wrong, just seems like that's the move.

PS: The only 'consumables' I've used have been the candy canes from Wintersfest and even at that I try to keep it for worst case scenarios. I've never picked up that type of play - might have to now.
