I think they mean that you can preview how items will look on you before buying it / crafting it.
Honestly, I initially read that as "being able to see which stats go up if you equip X or Y" but I was reading really fast to go through those 90 pages, but in retrospect that doesn't make sense because afaik that's already in the game.
