Dye Unlocking Now Character Based

Does anyone remember if you can still mix colors to make other colors? Or will there just be the 400 colors in the game?

I don't get character locking on this. They should at least allow trading once the color is known if only for the social aspect of letting people help out friends or guild members or even random strangers.

Well, according to the blog post, mixing is out; that is why they have 400 dyes, so you do not have to mix. Dyes will also affect materials differently.

Whether or not both of those things remain to be true as beta evolves remains to be seen.

No mixing, unless you count putting dyes in the mystic forge to get a specific dye.

Afaik once you ID an ink, it becomes bound to the account so you can only shift it to a different character.

Basically, this forces you between IDing a dye and using it on your account, or selling it. I'm not a fan.

I'd prefer IDing a dye first, and then choose whether to sell it or use it on my account. In fact, how hard is it to look at a color through glass? Get rid of "unknown color dye" altogether.

to be fair, a green glass can have all kinds of fluids without you knowing what is in it.
