I dont follow games...got better things to do (this was the first and only game I have and will ever ....)
5 years...yeah, when they were telling folks it would be out in 09, 10, and 11...so yeah 5 years is long when you consider what they had been telling people.
Not only that, but how many other games do they announce shortly after having barely started working on it?
People, they announced GW2 MUCH earlier than most games would be announced. They didn't string us along at ALL. They HAD to announce it as early as they did, or else we'd all be getting pissed off at them for not giving us new chapters beyond EotN.
Game development doesn't take overnight. 5 years is about how long it takes a game to be developed, unless your game is Duke Nukem forever or Diablo 3 (they DID start working on it right after D2, but obviously, with people leaving, and that all pretty much getting scrapped, it took us to what we have today).
In a perfect world, GW2 probably would not have been announced until about 2010, probably right around when the elementalist was revealed. If Anet was a much bigger company with a lot more people, they probably would have waited and we'd still have been getting new chapters for GW.

I'm just glad I had some fun games to catch up on in-between.

Just when my quite short vacation ends. Or maybe, not quite sure on the exact end date yet. Still, exciting!!!!!
