Just because I really AM curious, only one response so far on the "Why do you think we're getting races, not classes" thing.
Adding 3-5 racial skills is faster than building utilities from scratch?
Also we're starting with a bit of a glut of professions - it'll likely take awhile to get through the first batch of ones you like, so the pressure for new avenues of play might not be as strong. And new professions with a bunch of new skills might radically alter PvP balance irrevocably. I've skimmed a lot of this, but I'm sure someone complained about shadowsteps, right?
Maybe instead, as our characters travel to new lands, they could pick up and train in some of the local weaponry...two-handed beating sticks, for instance...

I would find it hard to see any of the current classes use a two-handed beating sticks. But hey, if they can make it work, fine by me.

Guardian could work a melee staff. Ranger too, giving him a druid-like quality.
I mentioned it, but what shadowstep did wrong was introduce a new gameplay component the game was not ready for, and fail to contain it. Dual prof means everyone could use it.
Had the ability been restricted to assassins, it wouldn't have been so bad.

That's just it... why play assassin if you can shadowstep on a warrior, and why play dervish if you can use scythe on other martial professions... Or shadowstepping monk. But if shadowstepping was restricted to assassins, then not only would there be a reason to take them, but also you could balance their hit & run spike strategy a lot more easily.
The problem isn't shadowstepping per se, imo, it's how it combines with what's already in the game, specifically via the dual profession.
Thieves for example are not OPed. But a guardian with stealth and shadowstepping would quickly be OP.

shadow stepping is the only wanted thing about the assassin, daggers are to weak to even be a match and most skills the assassin has can be used against them.
i use flashing blades the most but it's both a stance so you can't use any other stance and not attacking makes it useless, all the enemy has to do is run faster then normal and it's bye bye assassin.
I find this odd. I always 3..5 hit kill stuff in PvP on my assassin. I'm weak as ****, but I'm hard-hitting. And it's easy to bring perma-block. It would seem I'm the only one.
exactly the reason why the assassin is weak, just one flaw and you need even more energy and time a warrior can do without problem.
the only way to "fix" the assassin is to make the dagger conditions on the character instead on the one enemy, that way you can use offhand and dual attacks even when your target has died.
