Sylvari and Asura Will Be Playable Next BWE

I'm with Lady R on this one. Still means I might roll up a Sylvari, just to see if I'm likely to play one in the future.

if the 2 races would not be playable i would not even play and i suspect i am not the only one in that, i think Anet suspected that to happen so they did this.......they are mean...

I hope they get the new data out so I can start downloading early with my limited bandwidth. I'd guess this one will push the dat.file up to 23 gigs.

I was going to try the ele regardless... but now I get to try the asura starter area as well which is nice because I'll only play one asura but I am really interested in their lore. Now I get to try a different storyline (early on anyway).

They stated that we'll get to play in their starting zones. They aren't giving us access to higher level content in this BWE that I'm aware of. That may change within the next week or so, but as of right now, it's starting zones only.

Was just talking about this with my friend, so I ended up at the Wiki.

Over one hundred years later, golden fruit formed for the first time on the pale tree. In 1302 AE, these opened to reveal the first of the sylvari.

If sylvari originally formed as fruit on the tree, did anyone or anything ever try to eat them?

I will probably be playing through as Asura, since I don't actually have an interest in playing those for release -- avoiding spoiling the start for races I do want to play. Of course I've been pleasantly surprised before in other games with races that I didn't think looked interesting turning out to be my favorite.

As this will be my first BWE for GW2, though, a few quick questions: Will other races be there too, or will it just be the Asura/Sylvari areas for the BWE? I've downloaded the GW2 client, and all of its associated 200000+ files... anything special I need to do for the BWE in terms of downloads (like the -image command for GW to decompress files)?

So far, all BWEs added content to previously existing areas. Based on that all other races should be available in their starter areas and at least one higher level one (in case of Norn & Charr; the humans had three). I did not -image the last few months and everything was fine. Just try to keep the client & DAT file up to date throughout the week, so you don't have to download big chunks of date next Friday.
