That guy?
I'm not so sure, I think I saw one this morning, he was pretending to read a newspaper and eat some sort of pastry but I could spot the snow gathering at his feet. Well not actually see it but I could imagine it so that counts. Plus he was like really tall so that was also a sort of a giveaway.
I have a pretty hard anti-religious stance and I believe firmly that it is not up to someone else to force his/her idea of truth onto someone else. While people can believe whatever they want, I do not accept organized religion, which is basically one nut telling other what they should believe.
I'm pretty much atheistic about pretty much anything not covered by science, to me that feels a bit like not playing football which isn't doing a workout, I do not collect stamps, which is not my hobby (think about it). As far as god goes, as an atheist I don't believe in god. I do not believe there is no god. That's a big difference. I do not believe in god. I do not know whether god exists, but since it's impossible to prove his existence through scientific means, the question of whether he exists or not is simply irrelevant. A-theist means you don't believe in god, nor in Thor, nor in whichever of the 3000+ gods humanity ever believed in. No I also do not believe in the spirits of the earth.
I do not have a problem with people who believe in certain things to give their life meaning. I believe one should never harm another person, and that's a core tenet of my life. Most religious people wrap that into the ten commandments or something similar. And there you have it, religious people have a set of rules that makes them happy, and want to force those rules onto others, even if this makes others unhappy. If you like abstinence, fine. I like to f*ck around before marriage (and after) and it is none of your f'n business to forbid what makes me happy. I do like to place a bet now and then, and it's not your business to regulate gambling out of existence. I do like to smoke a joint at a festival and it's not up to religious people to ban drugs. Note that I do all those in moderation, however religious people want to ban everything, up and including things that are fun in moderation.
So while being an atheist doesn't really define me, since I don't push my non-existing beliefs onto others, what I do have a problem with, is others doing exactly that onto me. And that makes me anti-religious more than anything. If you believe a single word your pastor, the pope or your witch priestess says simply because he's a pastor, you're stupid. You're a thinking human and you can come to your own conclusions. You don't need a pastor for that. If your own brain tells you god and his rules are necessary for your life, your choice, not the pastors, nor mine.
