What happend to the "extended experience"?

A few days ago, when I was talking about possibilities using a tablet computer at work with a friend, a piece of information, almost two years old came back to my memory.

Arena.net promised some sort of "out of in-game" experience using tablets or smart phones. Images appeared, likes this



The pictures hinted some sort of chat/message system and a way to observe the whereabouts of your friends on the world map.

Since then, no news about this topic was heard again. Is the project still running, was it cancelled?

This is one of my most anticipated features. Every day I've been hoping they'll put an updated blog post out about it.

same here. ive scoured the internet for even a mention of it but it seems its either been kept extremely hush since they revealed it years ago, or cancelled outright.

I was hoping to hear about this too; it'd be nice to interact with the game a bit when bored at work/on the train/in a plane/in a box/with a fox/etc.

This was brought up in a couple of places on the official-we-are-not-actually-open-but–we-are-serious-about-community forums during the beta.

"We have no news at this time." was the official party line.

Hoping it wasn't cancelled and they're just going to surprise us later with it, because I think it's brilliant and have been looking forward to more news about it since that blog post.

That's what I was thinking. Its a nice extra to be sure, but the Extended Experience is far from a required or necessary feature of the game, and it not launching alongside GW2 isn't detrimental to the game.

Also, I no have smart phone, just flip-phone so... yeah...

Extended experience would probably include stuff for use on internet, so websites.
