IMO the only thing that is missing from that (and in the game) is the choice of voice, every human character sounds exactly like each other and that is with every race.
when you not only customize your looks but also the pitch of your voice it becomes more your character and less yet another character, that is the only thing missing.
Creating all the dialogue for several voice of both sexes for all races is a bit much to ask.

That might be true, but I think Sorudo has a point. I already find it off-putting in GW1, when I'm partying with somebody who happens to be party leader and the cutscene starts. And that other character talks exactly the same as my character does! I was disappointed that GW2 didn't at least have some choices...
