Again, in case it's not clear for folks in other parts of the world and you don't want to have to go allllll the way back to the other thread, Pacific time is referring to Pacific Daylight Time, which is GMT-7.

I'm hoping you guys get a better time of it today than we had yesterday.

It's a stress test and I feel they are properly seeing 'how low can we go' at the hardware end, well yesterday at least.

I hope to jump on but it's a Friday night - so if I do, it'll be brief and likely drunken.

Well... yes, the servers were under stress. That's not the same as the test going poorly. Our experience went poorly, but that's the nature of such tests. At any rate, moar time in character creation screens!

Someone mentioned that ArenaNet might have been doing that intentionally. Kicking people off after a small window of time to get them to log in again, and stress test the login servers.

If that's true, then grr. Bad ArenaNet for not mentioning it. Even if they said something deceptive -- like "we're doing some tests on the login server software/hardware, so if you get disconnected, just keep trying." Then boot people after 15 seconds no matter what.

But of course I have no idea if it's true or not.

Doubtful.

What they might do intentionally is limit the bandwidth, or server capacity, to stress it. But kicking people actively, I don't believe that.

Why grrr at ArenaNet? If they had said they were gonna do that intentionally, how many people would have bothered to play?

Also, you're not entitled to the game yet. It is very clearly a stress test, they've said so. They have disclaimers. ArenaNet did nothing wrong here. Even if that was done on purpose and maybe being slightly manipulative about it. You were there to help them test, and that's what happened. Hopefully today stress test is something else =)

Whatever they need to make launch better, they have my support.

But I still doubt they'd implement code to kick people off. I don't even see how that would be useful for testing. Not like you don't already have tons of people trying to login.
