My only concern is trying to find a server that will have a chance in WvWvW. I would hate to get stuck on a server that is constantly getting stomped...

WvWvW does make the server picking harder if you don't have a specific group you to stick to; you don't want to end up in a server that has too many people that you are constantly in the queue, but at the same time you don't want to end up in too weaksauce of a server either.

Theoretically, as stats are accumulated, Worlds will be matched on past performance, so you should have a decent chance once enough history for their algorithm is generated.

Learn to play? Honestly I rather have that problem than being stuck on a bad server where you would need many to improve their game.
I prefer being carried while I learn instead of the other way around :)

I rather be in a server playing with good players that I can learn from rather than being stuck in a server with bad players that no matter how good I might get we still get roflstomped...

As I understand it there are a lot of things you can do to support your side in WvW. And I believe you get level bumped to 80, so you won't be that squishy (though starter armor will make a big difference of course).
