Hrm, well, I guess it helps out with the HoM for some, which is good. Too bad it customizes the tormented weapons, else, I'd give mine away.
Be funny if there was some glitch, and people couldn't dedicate the "customized" tormented weapons, lulz.

Kinda nice to see people in the old abandoned outposts again, even if we're all going /A to avoid fighting (or at least I am).
Although it does seem like this update broke the Memories of Purity quest, unless I'm just doing it wrong.
Apparently it's once per account..

Lol. Well, I guess just one tormented weapon is needed. The Domain of Anguish is sighing in relief that the Whispers have been so generous.
...
I checked Wiki and didn't see anything. How does one get past those doors in the bloodstone part of the quest (explorable); I went into the Bloodstone dungeon, and the star went away.
Edit: Crystal Method quest from NPC in Gadd's Encampment is the route.

I'm torn on this, honestly.
Not about the reward, I think it's really a very nice approach. I think the time invested makes it so that these aren't too freely distributed, but at the same time it's not nearly as difficult as running Domain of Anguish. And I really did enjoy running around the different locations.
In short, I think it's a fantastic method and my hat is off to ArenaNet for doing all this.
But I spent about two or three hours this afternoon just doing Tyria. I could go do Elona and Cantha and Eye of the North, and I don't yet have a Tormented weapon in my HoM. And I did really want a Tormented shield when I was playing regularly.
At this point, though, I'm at 40/50 in HoM, and I don't play regularly. So the shield (if I even got it) would go unused. The one point I'd get from displaying it wouldn't make a difference in my rewards from the HoM.
So I'm not sure I want to invest the time to completing it. Especially after the ugliness that was Rotscale this afternoon (I was not careful and blindly rushed in with a full hero party, including my necromancer hero as minion master (very few nearby corpses) so the whole process was really painful and wow I'm glad I was in the habit of carrying candy around). Oof. Also, I'd forgotten how much I hate large packs of wind riders and Cry of Frustration every half second.
Save yourself some time. Go /A, bring that broken skill. Run past it all and chuckle to yourself. You still get to see all the places, you just get to avoid the irritating stuff you've already killed 86 times already.
Unless you're one of them there purists.
I finished a few minutes ago. Got a divine favor staff that I'll never use, but it was fun to revisit old locations and actually see people.

I got my black pearl, it is now sitting eternally in storage.
I think it would be easier (not necessarily faster) to farm the gold and buy the exact torment weapon you want -- wonder if this quest will reduce the cost some, probably not. I do like that ANet is helping people with their HoMs.
edit: with seven days left, are destroyer weapons the next quest? /wink wink

Way more self control than me - if I can click it, I click it.
