Membership cap is raised, if I'm reading correctly (http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Guild) by slipping an NPC (Guild Registrar?) some cash
create (50 player max) 1 silver
raise to 100 players for 1 silver
raise to 200 for 10 silver
raise to 300 for 1 gold
raise to 400 for 1 gold
raise to 500 for 2 gold
(chart stops there)
The brief bit of playing around during BWE3 seemed to indicate that you can only raise the cap when it's needed. I.e. if you have 417 ppl, you can't raise to 500 yet.
Besides that, I agree GWOA is gonna need a little lovin' too. :)
As for me, NA, Dii, GWOA

Ah, raising membership cap was bought with cash, of course! That's a good thing, makes it a lot easier to get the alliance guild cap raised than if we had to spend influence on it![]()
Yes you can communicate with the surrounding mob, the problem is with the Guild chat. Unless I'm mistaken, you can only communicate with the guild your toon is currently representing.
This makes it that much more awkward to, spontaneously or otherwise, organise a party with other 'alliance' guild(s) mates.
Indeed, that's a good point! Still, as far as I know, there's nothig in the game that disallows you from playing with other guilds' members. It's just a lot less convenient to meet and match up than in the GW1 alliance system.
A simple alliance function with an alliance chat channel is what we need. I keep my fingers crossed that we get that sooner rather than later![]()

Will be at least in BaR (as I'm creating it ^-^) and will also be in the Alliance Guild. NA server.
NA, Dii, GWOA
Edit: @below:
*starts thinking of ways to fortify Dii*
Seriously, read some of these posts out loud - we could come up with an alliance chant:
Eu Gwo Gwoa,
Dii na gwoa,
eu dii gwoa,
drumcircle goes boom…
true na gwoa
bar na gwoa
phx (tongue spit sound) eu gwoa
drumcircle drumcircle…

During the beta I was jumping between MVOP and GWOA alot. It was quite fun. I also like the idea of a massively epic GWOA guild but I understand the individual guild identities as well. It dilutes things though.
I remember the earliest posts about forming a GWOA guild for all of us to join as our Alliance Guild since no Alliance system was in place. I completely understand the need to have our own guilds as well.
How about this idea:
Primary Guild: GWOA
Secondary Guilds: GWO, DII, TRUE, PHX, BAR, MVOP.
Basically, everyone in the alliance join GWOA by default. This is our alliance united! Where we gang together as a whole.
Our secondary guilds are our legacy. The things we don't want to, or can't, let go of and want to keep some kind of activity there (Especially in the event that some Alliance system comes into play later on from ArenaNet)
What do you all think?

Ill join GWOA, but ill represent Dii mostly. Why? Because they're my guild and I'm loyal to them. Most of the influence I collect has dii's name on it. I'm loyal to the alliance as well, just not in the same way.
