I've noticed some NPCs in WvW with a tag [Guild claiming!]. How do you claim a tower and what are the benefits of doing so?

I think the banners get your guild emblem, not sure since my guild hasn't bothered to get one yet xD It is quite buggy atm, my guild leader was unbale to claim objectives getting the message "your guild hasn't given you permission to claim this object". Only officers could do it.

If a guild claims something their emblem is displayed and any upgrade they activate is applied to the node. More about it in this wiki Guild Claiming
