Patrick Wyatt wrote an article on his experience re: working on StarCraft and he included some lessons learned which were applied later to Guild Wars. A long read but for me fascinating. First article in a series of 3 (iirc) articles.

Here's the second article. It's on the technical side although. Basically, Wyatt talks about how he helped to reduce game crashes by using intrusive lists instead of linked lists. Those were used for GW1 and GW2.

I have to go read the first article, but now that I read the 2nd, nice to know I implemented lists properly
To my credit, I totally stole the linked list technique off of a book on proper C++ coding. (I paid the book $$$ so I have the right to use the code).
