This looks fun. Will probably contain loads of underwater combat as well.

I imagine it is like watching a hockey game live. You will only ever get one chance to see it in real time. But if you miss something important, you can always watch the replays (aka re-live the memories). Think Chahbek Village for a foreigner.

I think making the event one-time only unavoidable, because of this:

This is pretty much it, although something like New Years countdowns may be closer analogy because we'll most likely be waiting for a change to happen. If the change is to stick permanently, it doesn't make sense to unwind it, just like there is only one Happy New 2012 though the moment can still be observed through videos.

And so, on that note, I too think it might again be a cinematic like when Mad King burst through the lion fountain, rather than something like end of beta events.

In most games, we're told an event is going to happen. To see what this means, log out, get new build. You're suddenly transported into this new world and only know what happened because of external sources (ie, a website) or NPCs going "Oh my god, did you see that giant purple dinosaur and its pom poms made of butterflies!?"

What if you could see that dino on a rampage. That's what the one time events are good for. If you're around, great, you get to see the dino. If you're not around, you didn't really miss that much and you get the gist of what happened and can just get on with it and play.

That's why I quite like the one time events.
