In honesty, I am not up to date with expressions. In my defence, I spend most of my time in front of computers rather than communicating people, and still I manage to know 3 languages at proficiency-or-higher level.

So yeah, you might say that keeping up with expressions isn't a priority.

From that point on you focus on power since the increase in crit chance from that point would actually force you to start giving up on raw damage.
I bet there is some math behind that! probability and averages.... I've love to see that post.

The math is simple. If you have 1600 precision you get ~40% (I think) crit chance. Usually, that means you also ~2400 power to maximise the damage, which is why I said 1.5 ratio.

The reason you don't need more then 40% crit chance is because after that ammount of precision (that's 700 bonus precision already) you WILL give up on other stats, either defense or raw damage, not to mention that the difference between 40% and 50% crit chance isn't worth it (in terms of the ammount of crits).

I think the math would be like this:

DPS = normal dps + crit dps * probability of crit + condition dps

Once you can calculate all that, it's a straight comparison of adding 1 into power vs adding 1 into precision at each step, and adding into whichever gives you the better dps. The main problem is actually accurately figuring the dps of each source, I'm not sure where you'd get that info, especially comparing +1 in either attribute.

Not forgetting to invest properly in self-survival too, of course.

Thx to the necromancer's large health pool, I am able to do quests that are 6-10 levels above me. That would be impossible for my thief, since he would die very quickly even against mobs of his own level. And it works very well in GW2, since I get my fair share of exp and loots.

Thief might work if you manage not to get hit.

I actually move pretty fast so I kite a lot. When I do get hit I take around 4k damage on a critical. My thief at my level would have died. My necro at level 40 has rough the same amount of hp as my thief at level 70. O_O

Yeah but I mean, from what I hear thieves are better in PvP than necros or whatnot, due to their movement...

I'd expect that someone who plays thief really well might be able to fight PvE at even lower levels. As long as they don't get hit, it doesn't matter for how much they get hit for.

get blinded and you're nothing, necro's can attack literally trough everything including stealth.

they can't even hit a necro (a good necro player that is), how can they be better if the thief dies before a necro is even damaged?
it's alive but cannot be living, it's dead but lives a mortal life.

Do you PvP with your necro or thief? Do you PvP regularly?

I'm relaying what I heard from people I consider to be more directly involved and knowledgeable in PvP. I don't care for theorycrafting when there is some data available.
