What are you planning on buying with laurels?

I was going to make a poll, but couldn't fit everything into ten choices. Crafting materials, boosters, gathering tools, dyes, non-Ascended boxes, mystic forge stuff, minipets, tonics, ascended rings, ascended amulets, infusions, WvW plans, and crafting starter kits, oh my. Plus the standard bacon/pie/iguana option, of course.

In case you've forgotten what you can get, here's a list of laurel stuffs.

For my own part, I was originally thinking of the non-Ascended boxes. I still have many characters that are running around in rare armor, and I'd like to upgrade them to exotic. But I definitely want level 80 exotics for them -- so the chance of getting level 78 or 79 or even 80 rares is not very enticing. I have no use for the mystic forge stuff, don't like the way minis are implemented currently, so... it's looking like Ascended gear. Though that's not really necessary given that I don't run fractals. And that's a whole lot of dailies for all of my bazillion characters. Hrm.

I kind of want to save up for the cat and pup. I don't really like minis in general, but with a name like Chauncey von Snuffles III, how could I say no?

Do the Gear Boxes just give armor? Or weapons, too?

Morkar has full Exotic gear, so I guess Ascended.

Currently I am thinking about getting an ascended ring for my Elementalist. As I don't do fractals a lot (so far pretty much only for the monthly) I was hoping to chose one with an utility infusion slot, but first skimming of the rings only showed offensive/defensive slots.

It will take me approximately 2 months for that (I do not expect to get every daily in the near future), so after that I might go for a second ring (no rare or exotic rings on the Ele so far) or something completely different.

What I noticed that it is pretty easy now to get a fully set of rare/exotic armour when you play regularly at the point when you hit lvl 80 due to the gear boxes. When I reached level 80 with my Ele, I was happy to have items of masterwork status of lvl 70+.
Item progression towards better stuff has been accelerated with the introduction of Laurels.

Definitely no: WvW, starter kits (most crafts already maxed if not halfway already, but it might be useful for those who start up), prof gear, craft bags, tools, boosts (I'd buy karma boost, but I don't see one)

Or karma. I made a temporary Charr to run through the personal story through the Orders levels. Mostly just for the "From Howl to Silence" achievement, but also to see what the story was like. I leveled to 35, and had something like 28000 karma. The new addition of karma from events is pretty large. Compare this to my level 80 characters, who have played for months and had on the order of 50000 karma at most (before I dumped much of it into the Lost Orrian Jewelry boxes, anyway). I think that if my warrior (working on world completion) had been playing with karma from hearts, she'd have enough karma for several sets of exotic armor.

As far as gear that comes from the boxes, the wiki is short on detail -- but the mesmer gear page lists a Carrion Conjurer Mask Of Dwayna as well as a few weapons, so it looks like both armor and weapons.

Probably ascended gear for my guardian and ele in that order. Even though I'd love the mini cat, it is all in all a useless item, and the laurels don't exactly rain from the sky. Maybe someday when I don't know what else to spend laurels on, I'll get the kitty.

Ascended items I might get as drops. Minis, not so much.

But for the most part, long-term plan says I should buy ink, sell it, and buy gems. And worry about ascended and minis much later.

Used my first 5 to get a set of dyes as my warrior was sorely lacking pretty colours. I'll probably do this a few more times.

In the long term, really not sure. Ascended pieces are nice, but not really seeing the need juuuuust yet. Maybe in new content? I'll just do what I did with my karma pre-orrian boxes, save it up and see what I need at the time.

The cat tonic! And after that, the minis. I couldn't care less about those ascended items. I don't even have a full exotic gear set yet...
