Announcement: Name changing and pruning!

Hi guys!

Since the Blue fleet has increased in size, we took on a project to clear up some inactive users (it is taking a looong time.) As a result we've decided to extend the courtesy to our long-term members to get a name that might have been previously taken. They may request a change of name if the following criteria are met:

1. The username you want is similar to yours (or at least it is obvious it is still you)
2. The user who has the taken username, has not posted anything in 5+ years
3. The user who has the taken username, has < 10 posts

We'll be accommodating as much as possible, since we do this by hand. If you change your name, we ask you to please not change your avatar for at least a few weeks, until people are used to the new name.

To request a name change, please leave a note in this thread and/or private message any of the blues (Lensor, shawn, RDarken or myself)

Edit to add: if the name you want is NOT taken, you can still change it! Now would be a good time to request that.

Lol alaris, to clarify. Banned users are staying banned. We are only pruning inactives

Just an update that we are now done with the pruning (phew!). We cleared over a hundred thousand user names, so if you tried to register with a taken user name at one point and had to settle for something else, the chances of it now being available are rather good.






(A lot of the pruned users are from when the forum was first started and they were never really active here to begin with. This since Diablo II forum users automatically got an account here too when the forum went live.)
