If I had to guess, I would say it is because the icons that we have to use aren't transparent.

yes the dark theme is bad, but the white one hurts my eyes.

next question:
I have 1 year registered,
6 month registered (and 31 days),
why is 6 months showing up instead of the longer 1 year (and why only one year when I have been here since 2006?)
