Profile Problem

I've registered yesterday but seem to be unable to edit any of my profile. Whenever I try to click onto Edit Profile it says I'm not allowed to enter that section of the forums.

Is that on purpose, ie - I have to hit a certain amount of posts?

Or is it something else?

Hey there, welcome aboard!

Yes, this issue should be because you are so new; we have a promotion set up at 10 posts. However, this was mostly to reduce spam, so I have moved you to the Full Member usergroup. You should now be able to edit your profile.

Yes, we have a limit of being able to edit the user profile for the first 10 posts +7 days (spammers tend to enter in ads and/or hostile links in their profiles). You are still able to view your profile though? If not there is something else wrong.

It really is a bother that new users cannot get straight into the personalization of their space and have to put up with the human verification for the first few posts, but we had to take rather drastic measures to curtail what could only be described as a spammer invasion. Hopefully we may be able to loosen up a bit again down the road though.

Maybe I was being blind but might be worth making a little note for new users that they will not be able to edit their profiles until they've made 10 posts...

There is something general about restrictions in the welcome mail, but we maybe could have a welcome PM or notification as well detailing the restrictions is bit more. Good idea.
