Upcoming mega boss chest change

In the next release we will adjust the way that world mega bosses award their loot. The current chests will stay lootable once per day per character, but each boss’s guaranteed rare item drop will be moved to a separate chest (visually similar to daily achievement reward chests) that can only be acquired once per day across an account.

Our intention with this change is to keep providing rewarding loot for world mega bosses while avoiding overwhelming participation in boss fights (and overwhelming the economy with rares) from players cycling through each character slot for each boss every day.

It was kind of ridiculous. Glad to see this change.

I mean, I love the jillion ecto a day, but I hate that it felt like I HAD to be doing that stuff because it's basically free loot for doing, uh, very little.

Now I can sweep on one character, then move on to what I want to be doing and not be a slave to the little pink globs. :D

ectos were around 22/23s yesterday. Right after I read this about 9 hours ago I checked gw2spidey and ectos were around 26s. I check just now and they are up to about 32s.

I wonder if they will top out at 33 again, or go to 40.

Good change. Making the rare once per account should help loads with the overflow issues, and maybe also spread out people to some of the less-looted megabosses. Also, making the income-gap between people able to cycle all their characters every day and the "casuals" somewhat less insane.

I am also happy that they went with this solution (which is pretty much what I'd been suggesting) in stead of putting restrictions on guesting or rolling back the loot upgrade completely, something that a lot of people was clamoring for.

Should have made them more difficult too. Funny that some random champion troll in AC exp is far more dangerous than a huge, unique, mega boss.

So the guaranteed rare is moving and limited. Is there a chance of rares in the other loot chest?

I already only do the mega bosses on 1 character, so that doesn't have much effect on me.

I do mega bosses when I feel like it, and when they happen as I play. I really should keep a character on several of them and keep an eye on the tracker, but that's too much work. If only there was an in-game boss tracker.
